Buhari’s Medical Leave Letter Sparks Controversy At The Senate
President Muhammadu Buhari’s letter to the senate, notifying the house of his intention to travel to the United Kingdom for follow up medical leave, sparked controversy in the upper legislative chamber yesterday.
Senate President, Bukola Saraki, read the letter at plenary. Buhari had written in the letter that Vice President Osinbajo would coordinate the government affairs in his absence.
One of the senators, however pointed out that the president was supposed to emphasise on Osinbajo’s role in acting capacity instead of coordinating.
Meanwhile the House of Representatives has received the report of the 2017 budget from its committee on appropriation for consideration.
The report, which eventually put the appropriation bill at N7, 441 trillion was laid before the house in plenary on Tuesday.
