DJ Khaled Earns First Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 Single
Hip-hop star DJ Khaled has landed his first ever Billboard Hot 100 number one with his single “I’m the One.”
The track, which features Justin Bieber, Migos rapper Quavo, Chance the Rapper, and Lil Wayne, also serves as the first top hit on the chart for Chance and Quavo.
Bieber scores his fourth number one, while Lil Wayne earns his third.
Khaled’s track knocks Bruno Mars’ “That’s What I Like” off the top of the new countdown, while Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito,” which also features Bieber, rises to three.
Kendrick Lamar’s “Humble” and Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” round out the top five, respectively.
Meanwhile on the Billboard 200 album chart, Lamar remains at number one for a third week in a row with DAMN.
Gorillaz’s Humanz debuts in second spot, while Mary J. Blige’s Strength of a Woman comes in at number three.
Drake’s More Life and Ed Sheeran’s ÷ (divide) round out the top five, respectively.
DJ Khaled due to his excitment posted a series of statuses on social media Monday (May 8) celebrating the accomplishment — his first No. 1 on the chart — thanking his team and his son, Asahd, who executive produced the song. He also noted that “I’m the One” is only the fifth song to debut at the top of the chart since 2015.
Bieber reached out to congratulate the producer on Twitter.
