Fifteen distinguished and exemplary Nigerians have been named by the Silverbird Group and the Vanguard Newspapers as the first set of Nominees in the search for Nigeria’s five greatest living legends.
The nominees who are listed in no particular order include Alhaji Aluko Dangote, Philip Emeagwali, Professor Wole Soyinka, Chief gain Fawehinmi, Nwankwo Kanu and Hakim Olajuwon .
Others are Chief Emeka Anyoaku, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, professor Dora Akunyili , Akintola Williams and General Olusegun Obasanjo.
Still on the list are Dafinone , Alhaji Balarabe Musa, King Sunny Ade and Anthony Cardinal Olubunmi Okogie.
The nominees were considered for their selfless service, enduring achievements, sincerity of purpose , resilience , patriotism, uprightness, respectability and incorruptibility.
You will recall that at a recent news conference in Lagos, the Silverbird Group and the Vanguard newspapers informed the public that Nigeria’s five greatest living legends would emerge from a list of twenty nominees to be drawn up by the editorial boards of both media houses.
The chairman of the Silverbird Group Ben Murray Bruce said the objectives of the campaign are to celebrate the greatness achieved by illustrious Nigerians in various field of Endeavour, as well as identifying role models worthy of emulation.
An additional five nominees to make a total of twenty would be announced soon, this would be followed by voting by the Nigerian public |
