Governor ADAMS OSHIOMHOLE of Edo State was presented with the two thousand and eight Silverbird Man of the Year Award on the thirtieth of January.
The ceremony took place at the Eko Hotel and suites on Victoria Island, Lagos and featured the maiden winner of the Award and Minister of Information and Communication, Professor DORA AKUNYILI as the special guest.
Rave-making Nigerian artistes, D-BANJ, FAZE and YEMI SAX, also entertained guests at the event which was well attended by the Cream de la cream of society, from masters in industry to government parastatals in Lagos state and Edo state.
The executive Governor of lagos state chairmaned the event and gave loads of accolades to the recepient of the Award, as well as the Chairman of the Silverbird Group, Mr. Ben Murray Bruce, Alhaji Aluko dangote, as well as other prominent Nigerians.
After a remakeable speech by Comrade Oshiomhole, as he preffered being called,he was a presented the award by mr murray bruce and a cash prize of 5 million naira by Zenith bank of Nigeria to be donated to his charity organization, after which financial support from various individuals and groups came in. it was truly a nite of solidarity.
Governor ADAMS OSHIOMHOLE was voted the Silverbird Man of the Year for his doggedness in campaigning for social justice and his success in the legal battle to reclaim his election mandate in two thousand and seven.
OSHIOMHOLE is the fourth winner of the Silverbird Man of the Year Award after DORA AKUNYILI, NASIR EL-RUFAI AND NUHU RIBADU. |
