Govenor of Ebonyi State Gives Brutalized Crippled Man Half a Million Naira
The governor of Ebonyi state, Engr David Umahi has ordered the release of N500,000 to Mr Chijoke Oraku who was brutalized by soldiers for wearing camouflage in Anambra state and also demanded the dismissal and prosecution of the two soldiers.
In a statement released by Ebonyi state Chief Press Secretary, Emma Anya, the governor said that the 21 days punishment given to soldiers was too mild and demanded their immediate dismissal from the force.
The video which was posted last week of the soldiers assaulting the crippled man for wearing camouflage clothes went viral.
The ugly incident occurred along the New Market Road in Onitsha, the commercial nerve center of Anambra State.
Many Nigerians and human rights activists condemned the action of the soldiers and asked that the soldiers involved should be prosecuted and dismissed.
