Two persons with Lassa Fever have been confirmed dead at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH.
A statement released by the hospital management yesterday revealed both patients presented late and died within one week of treatment.
According to the hospital management, the index case; a 39-year-old pregnant woman with bleeding disorder who died after a still birth was confirmed only after post-mortem was conducted.
A resident doctor who participated in the autopsy is said to have contracted the disease and has been isolated for treatment.
There are fears of more cases as the statement adds not less than 100 hospital workers were exposed to the index case and are now being monitored.
Although, the statement does not give details of the second dead patient, reports say the corpse was released to family members before the confirmation of the disease.
