Tottenham Get Well Deserved Win Over Man United
Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen scored within 11 seconds on Wednesday at Wembley to overshadow Alexis Sanchez‘s Premier League debut for Manchester United.
Eriken latched on to flicks from Harry Kane and Dele Alli to side-foot home the joint-third fastest goal scored in the Premier League.
After the early goal, United responded well with Jesse Lingard almost scoring but things got worse as Phil Jones turned in a Kieran Trippier‘s cross into his own net to double Spurs’ lead just before the half-hour.
Tottenham were a constant threat and had multiple chances to stretch their lead before half time.
Jose Mourinho threw on Juan Mata and Marouane Fellaini in the 63rd minute but bizarrely took Fellaini off just seven minutes later, replacing him with Ander Herrera. The Belgium international took off his shirt and marched straight down the tunnel.
The defeat ended United’s eight-game unbeaten run in the league and left them 15 points behind leaders Manchester City in second.
The impressive win for Spurs puts them right back at the heart of the hunt for a Champions League qualification spot, just two points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.
