Watch The Official Trailer For The TV Adaptation Of ‘Fifty’
In 2015, the Biyi Bandele-directed romantic drama, Fifty, was one of Nollywood’s most critically and commercially successful movies. So, no one was surprised when they announced plans to adapt it for the small screen.
The movie followed four friends, Tola, Elizabeth, Maria and Kate (Dakore Akande, Ireti Doyle, Omoni Oboli and Nse Ikpe-Etim), who are all forced to re-evaluate their personal and professional lives; and the series will explore this theme even further.
For the show – which is titled Fifty The Series – award-winning filmmaker, Akin Omotoso (Vaya) will replace Biyi Bandele, while Omoni Oboli, Ireti Doyle and Dakore Akande will all be reprising their roles. In a bit of sad news, Keira Hewatch will be replacing the radiant Nse Ikpe-Etim.
Anyway, we hope the show will be able to pull off what Netflix’s TV adaptation of Justin Simien’s Dear White People so brilliantly did – give the secondary characters, who didn’t have time to be developed in the movie, a lot more depth and humanity.
