16th BON Awards: ‘Adire’ Shines Bright With Best Cinematography

The 16th Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards, held on November 24, 2024, at the Sugar Factory Film Studios in Ilorin, Kwara State, honored the creativity and excellence in Nigerian cinema.

Among the standout achievements, the Netflix original Adire triumphed in the highly competitive Best Cinematography category, a testament to its striking visual narrative and compelling artistry.

Adire captivated audiences with its vivid storytelling, spearheaded by a talented team led by Emmanuel Igbekele Odihiri, the Director of Photography.

The film stood out in a category featuring notable contenders such as Jagun Jagun and The Weekend. Additionally, Kehinde Bankole, who starred in the film, was nominated for Best Actress, underscoring the movie’s impactful performances and production quality.

The night also celebrated other remarkable wins. Jagun Jagun, a cinematic masterpiece by Femi Adebayo, dominated the awards with six wins, including Best Actor and Best Production Design.

Wunmi Dada and Keppy Ekpenyong also garnered well-deserved recognition for their performances in Unknown Soja and The Weekend, respectively, reflecting the depth of talent in Nollywood today.

The BON Awards continues to celebrate the dynamic growth of the industry, providing a platform for Nigerian storytellers to shine on a global stage.
