2019 MBGN: The Search For A New Queen Begins With Remarkable Press Conference (PICS)

The journey to the 32nd edition of the Silverbird Television Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria is just round the corner as the press conference took place on 25th April, 2019, at The Silverbird Galleria, Lagos.

In an atmosphere filled with many interesting moments, the Vice President of Silverbird Group, Guy Murray-Bruce, said during his speech that the contest is aimed at boosting the image of women.

With this year’s theme being “Every Woman”, he said the beauty pageant would unravel the potential of the under-appreciated Nigerian woman.

“Every woman is a potential mother and wife who is yet saddled with the underappreciated responsibilities of being an unpaid nurse, doctor, accountant, economist, teacher, cook, cleaner, driver, adviser, etc to her family in addition to her professional role, for the career woman,” he said.

He went on to say, “We are searching for a beautiful girl with the intelligence to hold her own. She must be Nigerian by birth and with valid international passport. She should be above 5feet 7inches tall. Participants must be between 18 to 23 years of age and possess a  minimum educational qualification of a secondary school certificate.”

MBGN forms are still available for 10,000 naira at all Silverbird locations nationwide, at Occasions and Events stores and also online at ‘silverbirdmbgn.com’. Registration ends in June 30, 2019.

He said that screenings to select 37 contestants for the pageant, will hold in Enugu, Owerri, Yenagoa, Port Harcourt, Abuja, Accra Ghana and Lagos for the final screening.

In excitment he annouced, “MBGN is returning to Bayelsa, the glory of all lands, for the fourth time in line with the State Governor Seriake Dickson’s pledge to add the pageant to the state calendar of events and boost tourism as a result.”

He also urged more corporate organisations and the media to leverage on the popularity and wide appeal of the beauty contest, by being a part of the show as sponsors and partners.

The grand finale holds on September 20th at the prestigeous Gabriel Okara Cultural Centre in Yenagoa Bayelsa, and the winner will drive home with a brand new car and chance to represent Nigeria at the Miss World pageant while the first runner up will represent Nigeria at the Miss Universe pageant.

This year’s MBGN will be supported by the Bayelsa State Government, The Bozac Group, Occasions and Events, Silverbird Group, Silverbird Television and Silverbird News 24.
