Japa: Stay And Fight For The country, Femi Kuti Urges Nigerians

Afrobeat musician Femi Kuti has called on Nigerians, especially the youth, to reconsider their decision to leave the country amid the ongoing mass emigration trend, popularly known as the “Japa” syndrome.

The renowned music star, during a recent public address, stressed the need for citizens to remain in Nigeria and actively fight for a better future rather than seeking greener pastures abroad.

After acknowledging the difficulties faced by many, insisting that collective action is the only way to create lasting change, Kuti highlighted the importance of recognizing the role every individual has in rebuilding and improving the nation.

On another reason for his admonishment, the artist revealed that running away from the problems won’t solve them, and it is up to Nigerians to rise and fight for their country.

This message comes at a time when many young Nigerians are leaving the country in search of better opportunities, further fuelling the conversation around patriotism and nation-building.
