Nigerian comedian and content creator, Adebowale Adedayo, well known as Mr. Macaroni, says his experience during the #ENDSARS protests has made him fearlessness.
Macaroni made this statement after remembering his arrest at the #OccupyLekkiTollGate protest in 2021, which he described as a traumatic encounter with police, where he was allegedly stripped and assaulted.
He also stated further that the police took pleasure in humiliating him and warned him against disturbing certain individuals, suggesting he was targeted for his activism.
While speaking an interview on the WithChude podcast, he expressed how this ordeal transformed him. “I had to ask myself how I could ask others to sacrifice if I wasn’t willing to do the same,” he stated.
The experience, while harrowing, stripped away his fears and bolstered his resolve to use his platform for advocacy, particularly for those who cannot speak up for themselves.
Mr. Macaroni emphasized that the pain he endured during his arrest only strengthened his commitment to activism. “All the fear in me disappeared after that moment,” he noted, reaffirming his dedication to fight against injustices and lend his voice to the oppresse
