Liverpool Beat Brighton 2-1 In EPL To Regain Top Spot

Liverpool on Saturday moved to the top of the Premier League with a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory over Brighton at a lively Anfield.

The Reds took full advantage of defeats suffered by title rivals Arsenal and Manchester City, who stumbled against Newcastle and Bournemouth, respectively.

Trailing 1-0 at halftime, Liverpool seemed on the verge of following in their rivals’ footsteps after Ferdi Kadioglu put Brighton ahead with a well-placed strike from the edge of the box, bouncing in off the post.

Brighton had dominated the first half, keeping the Anfield crowd on edge and looking poised to leap to third in the standings.

However, Liverpool came roaring back in the second half. Cody Gakpo’s curling cross from the left found its way into the net, leveling the score and marking his third goal against Brighton within days after his Carabao Cup brace. Shortly after, Mohamed Salah completed the turnaround with a stunning shot, curling the ball from the right side of the penalty area into the far corner.

Liverpool’s defensive resilience, highlighted by a crucial save from keeper Caoimhin Kelleher against Georginio Rutter, helped preserve their lead. This victory marks Liverpool’s 13th win in 15 games under new manager Arne Slot, who has guided the team to a two-point lead over Manchester City.
