KWASU Celebrates 6,891 Graduates, Including 71 First-Class Honors

Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, is set to hold its 12th convocation ceremony on December 14, 2024, marking another milestone in its academic journey.

Out of 6,891 graduates for the 2023/2024 academic session, 71 students will receive the prestigious First-Class honors, celebrating their outstanding academic achievements.

During a pre-convocation press briefing, Vice-Chancellor Professor Jimoh Shaykh-Luqman provided a breakdown of the graduating cohort.

A total of 6,374 students will receive first degrees, categorized as follows: 1,828 in the Second Class Upper Division, 3,501 in Second Class Lower, and 974 in Third Class. Additionally, 517 postgraduate degrees will be awarded, including 468 master’s degrees and 49 doctoral degrees.

Professor Shaykh-Luqman highlighted the university’s exponential growth, expanding from nine to 11 faculties and planning to introduce 80 undergraduate programs. He noted significant infrastructure advancements, such as a 104-bed hostel and the ongoing Student Smart City project, enhancing campus life.

Amidst these achievements, the Vice-Chancellor called for governmental support in addressing land encroachment and improving the Shao-Malete road. These steps, he emphasized, are crucial for sustaining KWASU’s commitment to delivering quality education and fostering innovation.
