Portable Sparks Outrage With Asake Grammy Diss Track

Nigerian street-hop star titled “Your Papa No Be Army,” openly mocks Asake’s ambitions, questioning his Grammy aspirations and choice of outfit at the event.

In the track, Portable takes direct shots, rapping: “Your father was not in the army, and you want to win a Grammy. You better go and join the academy, Mr. Money.” He also ridicules Asake’s military-inspired outfit, implying that flashy appearances don’t equate to award success.

However, the diss track has backfired, drawing heavy backlash from fans and industry insiders who see it as unnecessary and divisive. Many argue that instead of tearing down a fellow Nigerian artist, Portable should focus on celebrating African music’s growing global influence.

Despite the uproar, Asake has remained silent, choosing not to respond publicly to Portable’s jabs. His supporters have, however, defended him online, emphasizing his accomplishments and unique artistry.

This latest drama has once again sparked debates about rivalry versus solidarity in the Nigerian music scene, with calls for more unity among artists as they compete on the international stage. While Portable thrives on controversy, critics say this latest stunt may do more harm than good to his reputation.
