‘We Control the Narrative’ – Veekee James Responds To Online Critics

Nigerian fashion designer and influencer Veekee James has set the record straight on the scrutiny surrounding her online presence, making it clear that what the public sees is only what she chooses to share.

Addressing the backlash in a candid conversation on the Creativitea Live with Linda podcast, she emphasized that social media offers just a curated glimpse of her life with her husband, Femi Atere.

“I’m a big believer in spirituality, but what people don’t realize is that they don’t know everything about someone just because they follow them online,” she said.

Veekee also dismissed the idea that keeping a relationship off social media guarantees success, stating, “I’ve seen marriages that were kept off social media that didn’t even last for a month.”

Unapologetically Authentic

Beyond the marriage discourse, Veekee has faced criticism about her personal appearance. When a social media user accused her of relying on filters and wigs, she didn’t hesitate to hit back, saying, “It is just clear that you are not purpose-driven or success-driven.”

Her confidence also extends to her faith and lifestyle choices. Recently, she came under fire for inviting singer Teni to perform at her wedding anniversary, a move some critics argued clashed with her Christian beliefs. However, Veekee remained firm in her stance:

“I’m a Jesus baby, a daughter of Zion, a kingdom influencer. And yes, I love Teni Makanaki. Zero hypocrisy zone!”

Owning Her Narrative

Despite the online noise, Veekee James is unwavering in her commitment to being her authentic self. She continues to curate her social media presence on her own terms, reinforcing that while followers may get a glimpse of her life, the full story is hers to tell.
