Veteran Nollywood actress and politician, Hilda Dokubo, has publicly criticized President Bola Tinubu’s recent declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State.
Dokubo labeled the move as “shameless” and suggesting ulterior motives.
On March 18, 2025, President Tinubu announced the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and all members of the Rivers State House of Assembly for six months, citing escalating political unrest and security concerns.
In response, Dokubo took to her Instagram page, expressing outrage over the president’s decision. She questioned the necessity of such drastic measures, especially in a state that has reportedly experienced peace for the past two years. Dokubo further insinuated that the declaration might be an attempt to control the state’s economic resources, stating, “Perhaps Mr President should say he wants to annex Rivers State.”
