Skales Stands Up For Burna Boy: ‘Put Some Respect On His Name’

In a bold move to defend fellow Nigerian artist Burna Boy, Afrobeats star Skales has called out online trolls, emphasizing that Burna Boy is “nobody’s mate,” including himself.

Skales took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to express his admiration for Burna Boy’s continued performances of their collaborative track “Temper (Remix)” and to address the disrespect directed at the Grammy-winning artist.

“Pls and pls put some respect on Burna’s name… Burna is not anybody’s mate including me,” Skales wrote, highlighting Burna Boy’s significant contributions to the music industry and his global achievements. He further stated, “I’ve been seeing all the insults thrown at him and I’m not cool with it.”

This public defense underscores the importance of recognizing and respecting the accomplishments of artists who have significantly impacted the music scene. Skales’ statement serves as a reminder of the solidarity within the Nigerian music industry and the need to support one another against unwarranted criticism.
