Nigerian female singer, Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, Ayra Starr, has emerged as the second Nigerian female to win the BET Best International Act.
The 2025 BET Awards was the 25th edition, which was held on Monday, June 9, 202,5, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
With three nominations, Ayra Starr led the Nigerian contingent at the 2025 BET Awards. Seyi Vibez and Shallipopi are among the Other Afrobeats stars nominated for awards this year for Best New Artist.
To win the prize for Best International Act, Ayra Starr competed with other global stars, including fellow Nigerian singer, Rema.
With this achievement, she has now become the second Nigerian female artist, after Tems, to win the award as she joins other superstars like 2Baba, D’banj, Ice Prince, Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, and Tems as Nigerians to have won the coveted prize.
The ceremony was hosted by comedian and actor Kevin Hart, who returned as host after anchoring the show in 2011.
