Breaking: WAEC Releases 2025 WASSCE Results

On Monday, August 4, 2025, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) officially released the results of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates.

The announcement went out via the council’s verified X (formerly Twitter) handle and all accredited media platforms.
Rumors Put to Rest

In the days leading up to the release, rumors circulated on social media falsely claiming that the exam had been cancelled over alleged malpractice and question-paper leaks. WAEC dismissed these claims as baseless, stressing that:

Marking was completed on time.

The examination was never cancelled.

All official announcements come only from WAEC-authorized channels.
Scope and Performance Overview

WAEC Head of Nigeria Office, Dr. Amos Dangut, provided insights into the results at a press briefing in Lagos:

A total of 1,969,313 candidates sat the exam, spread across 23,554 schools in Nigeria and neighboring West African countries, following the Nigerian curriculum.

Results for 77.06% (1,517,517 candidates) have been fully processed and released; the remaining 22.94% (451,796 candidates) have pending issues and will receive results later this week.
