The controversy surrounding Mohbad’s tragic death has taken another twist as Naira Marley, the Marlian Records boss, has publicly urged the police to re-arrest him, Samlarry, and every other person previously linked to the case—insisting that only a fresh, impartial probe can clear the lingering doubts.
Marley’s Bold Call for Justice
In a new video shared on YouTube, the singer, whose real name is Azeez Fashola, challenged the Lagos State Police Command to restart investigations into the circumstances of Mohbad’s death. According to him, the initial probe was riddled with inconsistencies, and only a trusted, independent detective can lead a credible inquiry.
“I will tell the police to arrest everybody—me, Samlarry, everybody. Let there be transparency,” Marley declared.
Two Months in Detention
Marley reminded the public that he was in Amsterdam at the time of Mohbad’s passing on September 12, 2023, yet he was detained for two months at Panti, Yaba, with his passport confiscated. He stressed that investigators should have focused on those who were with Mohbad in his final hours, rather than targeting him and Samlarry, who were abroad at the time.
The Mohbad Case So Far
Mohbad, born Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, died in circumstances that sparked nationwide protests and calls for justice. Investigations pointed to an auxiliary nurse, accused of administering a lethal injection, who was later charged with medical negligence.
Despite a Yaba Magistrate Court clearing Marley and Samlarry of wrongdoing in February 2025, public suspicion has continued to trail them, fueling Marley’s latest demand for a full re-investigation.
A Plea for Transparency
For Marley, this is not an attempt to escape scrutiny but a call for clarity. His insistence on re-arrest signals a willingness to cooperate and a push for the truth—one that could finally bring closure to Mohbad’s grieving fans and family.
