Nigerian rap titan Olamide has finally set the record straight, firmly shutting down widespread rumours of a feud with Afrobeats star Asake.
In a recent sit-down with BBC Africa, the YBNL boss made it clear that there is no bad blood, no rivalry, and certainly no broken bond — just business decisions and personal growth.
The speculation began after Asake’s quiet exit from YBNL, followed by noticeable social-media changes: unfollowing former label mates and removing YBNL Nation from his Instagram bio. The moves sparked intense online chatter, with many assuming the artist had parted ways with Olamide on sour terms.
But the award-winning rapper was quick to quash the rumours, stressing that his connection with Asake runs much deeper than contracts and record deals.
“We are still family… he is my brother for life,” Olamide said, adding that once business is settled, “life goes on.”
Entertainment insiders have since revealed that the separation was purely contractual. According to lawyer Oluyemisi Falaye, Asake simply chose not to renew his deal with YBNL after reassessing the terms. The singer has now launched his own imprint, Giran Republic, marking a fresh phase in his ever-growing career.
Despite the industry buzz, Olamide’s message remains consistent: there is no feud, only mutual respect and continued brotherhood as both artists pursue new creative horizons.
