Afropop superstar Adekunle Gold is preparing to make a monumental return to his hometown stage, unveiling plans for a homecoming concert unlike any other, complete with a 55-piece orchestra.
The event promises a breathtaking blend of contemporary Afrobeats and classical orchestration, setting a new benchmark for live performances in Nigeria.
Scheduled for December 26 at the National Theatre, Lagos, the show will take fans on a musical journey through all six of Adekunle Gold’s albums. Backed by the acclaimed MUSON Orchestra and his longtime band, The 79th Element, the performance promises lush arrangements that breathe new life into fan-favourite tracks.
Taking to social media to announce the event, Adekunle — fondly known as AG Baby — described the concert as a celebration of “FUJI and all six albums that shaped my journey.” Classics like Orente, Coco Money, and Pick Up will be reimagined with rich orchestral textures, combining sophistication with the signature energy of his rhythm section.
The concert follows the release of his 2025 album Fuji, a record that fuses indigenous Nigerian sounds with contemporary pop influences, reflecting both his Lagos roots and artistic growth. Fans can look forward to an immersive experience that showcases not only Adekunle Gold’s decade-long evolution but also the versatility of Afrobeats when paired with orchestral grandeur.
With this homecoming, Adekunle Gold reaffirms his reputation as an innovator in Nigerian music, delivering what promises to be a spectacular, one-of-a-kind live event for fans old and new alike.
