Adeleke Breaks Silence on ‘Anu’ Paternity Claim

Billionaire industrialist and philanthropist Dr Adedeji Adeleke has finally addressed the long-running paternity controversy involving a young girl known as Anuoluwapo, bringing renewed attention to a case that has trailed his son, Afrobeats superstar Davido, for more than a decade.

Speaking at a media briefing in Lagos, Adeleke dismissed claims that Davido is the child’s biological father, insisting that multiple DNA tests conducted over the years showed no genetic link. According to him, scientific evidence has consistently ruled out paternity, describing the probability as “zero per cent.”

He revealed that the issue first surfaced over ten years ago after receiving a formal letter from Ibadan, accompanied by a birth certificate naming “Adeleke David” as the father and a request for DNA testing. Adeleke said he promptly arranged medical tests and made it clear he would fully embrace the child if results proved she was his granddaughter.

Despite the negative test outcomes, the businessman disclosed that he has continued to support the child and her mother financially, including assistance with school fees and welfare, emphasizing that the gesture was driven by compassion rather than acceptance of the claim. He added that expanding his already large family — which includes 14 grandchildren — would never have been an issue if biological ties had been confirmed.

Adeleke also condemned what he described as ongoing misinformation and social-media manipulation, singling out controversial commentator Kemi Olunloyo and accusing certain individuals of spreading false narratives and impersonating others to inflame public opinion.

Following his father’s public intervention, Davido responded online with a brief but emotional message, thanking him for his support and standing by the family.

However, the matter remains unresolved in the public eye. Ayo Labinjoh, Anu’s mother, continues to challenge the testing history and has called for a fresh, independent DNA test, arguing that definitive proof has not been transparently presented. She has also accused the Adeleke family of intimidation and disputes parts of their account.

As the story continues to trend in entertainment and social discourse, the Adeleke family maintains that their position is guided by scientific evidence, fairness, and a desire to finally lay the controversy to rest — even as debate around the claim persists.
