The Super Eagles played inspiring football as they trashed Sao Tome and Principe 10-0 in a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Monday.
With this victory they set a new record as head coach Jose Peseiro became the first Super Eagles coach to lead the side to their highest ever scoreline.
The previous highest score for the Super Eagles was a 10-1 victory over the Squirrels of Benin Republic in the Kwame Nkrumah Cup in 1959.
After putting the Super Eagles ahead on nine minutes, Napoli attacker Victor Osimhen set the tone for the triumph.
In the second half, Osimhen scored three more goals for the Eagles, bringing his national goal total to 15 in 22 games.
Lorient star, Terem Moffi bagged a brace in the rout against the lowly minnows.
Moses Simon, Oghenekaro Etebo, Ademola Lookman and Emmanuel Dennis were also among the goals.
The Super Eagles will face the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau in their next game in the qualifiers in September.
