AFCON Qualifiers: Super Eagles Secure 1-1 Draw Against Benin

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have secured a 1-1 draw against the Squirrels of Benin Republic during their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan.

The Super Eagles faced stiff competition from Benin, who took an early lead despite being clear favorites.

In the second half, Victor Osimhen, Nigeria’s outstanding forward equalized, achieving a personal milestone by climbing higher on Nigeria’s all-time top scorers list.

While the team dominated possession and created numerous chances, they were unable to capitalize on their opportunities, leaving fans and analysts debating the team’s tactical approach and finishing struggles.

Having already qualified for the AFCON tournament scheduled for Morocco in 2025, the result ensures Nigeria maintains its position as group leaders.

Fans hope the team can improve its form and tactics before the competition begins. Meanwhile, the Super Eagles now return to Uyo for their final qualifier.
