Afrobasket: Camps Open In Florida, Lagos

Invited players are expected to begin camping as the newly inaugurated board of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) released names of players and venues for camping at the weekend.


According to a communique signed by NBBF Secretary General, Chimezie Asiegbu the players are expected to camp in Lagos and Florida in preparation for the Afrobasket Women Championship in Bamako, Mali.


Asiegbu noted that the foreign-based players would converge in Orlando, Florida while the home-based with some foreign-based players holidaying in Nigeria would congregate in Lagos, Nigeria.


Players that will report in Florida are Ezinne Kalu, Promise Amukamara, Adaeze Alaeze, Helen Ogunjimi, Ayoleka Sodade, Ndidi Madu, Cecilia Okoye, Aisha Mohammed, Patience Okpe, Sarah Imovbioh, Ugo Nwaigwe, Balogun Elizabeth, Joyce Ekworomadu and Evelyn Akhator. Coach Sam Vincent will handle the team in Florida.


The Lagos will Camp will have Sarah Ogoke (foreign-based), Uju Ugoka (foreign-based), Adaora Elonu (foreign-based), Chioma Udeaja (First Bank), Nkechi Akashili (First Bank), Upe Atosu (First Bank), Elawure Tina Odion (First Bank), Akaraiwe Nkem (First Bank). Others are Ukato Magdalene (First Bank), Nwamaka Deborah Chidinma (First Bank), Ulabo Queen Roseline (Dolphins), Olaosebikan Tokunbo (Dolphins), Ume Nwamaka Gloria (Plateau Rocks), Okonkwo Grace (IGP Queens) and Isaac Christiana (IGP Queens).


Coaches Peter Favour Ahmedu of First Bank and Ochuko Okorogun of Dolphins will handle the team in Lagos.
