Aguero Scores Brace As Man City Beats Chelsea To Win Community Shield
Sergio Aguero was on target scoring both Manchester City goals as the Premier League champions beat Chelsea to win the Community Shield at Wembley.
Aguero’s scored his first after 13 minutes of play when he got the ball on the edge of the area after Phil Foden surged forward and fired into the bottom corner. That goal marked the Argentinians 200th goal for the club.
His second came after the break when he latched on to Bernardo Silva‘s pass and beat Willy Caballero with another precise low finish.
Chelsea’s new manager Maurizio Sarri still have a lot work to do as his side lacked a presence in attack, managing only one shot on target that came from from a long-range strike by 17-year-old Callum Hudson-Odoi.
Sarri was without his best forward player, with Eden Hazard due back for post-World Cup pre-season training on Monday amid speculation Real Madrid want to sign him.
City, who won last year’s title by 19 points, were also without some of their stars – with Kevin de Bruyne, Raheem Sterling and David Silva all absent.
They are favourites to defend the title and among the top Champions League contenders after becoming the first English top-flight team to secure 100 points last season.
