The mayor of Amsterdam, Femke Halsema has faulted a series of “hit-and-run” attacks targeting Israeli football fans following a Europa League match involving Maccabi Tel Aviv.
The incidents unfolded as groups on scooters reportedly sought out Israeli supporters across the city.
Five people sustained injuries in the attacks, which Dutch authorities are investigating as potentially antisemitic.
Following the incidents, 62 people were arrested, with Amsterdam’s mayor and the Dutch Prime Minister voicing strong condemnations of the violence.
Israel also responded, sending two planes to assist its citizens in Amsterdam.
