The 2024 Silverbird Food Eating Competition, dubbed “Chop and Quench,” concluded in grand style, with Lagos witnessing a spectacular display of skill, strategy, and insatiable appetites.
After intense rounds of challenges involving traditional Nigerian dishes and spicy delicacies, a winner, Abia Emmanuel Chukwuebuka finally emerged, clinching the ultimate grand prize of N500,000. The total quantity of food eaten by was 17kg while the food left was 3kg (from the initial 20kg)
Victor Okoli who emerged as first runner-up (second place) went home with a Cash Prize of ₦300,000 after eating 16.2 kg and leaving 3.8kg (from the initial 20kg)
The 3rd Place went to Daniel Sule who won the Cash Prize of ₦200,000 ate 15.6kg and left 4.4kg from the initial 20kg.
The competition featured standout performances, with contestants impressing the audience with their capacity and endurance during the “All You Can Eat” challenge. The highlight of the event was a record-breaking performance where a contestant devoured an astonishing amount of Eba and soup within a timed challenge, leaving the crowd in awe.
The winner, who triumphed after a tightly contested final, credited their victory to preparation and strategy, saying, “It’s not just about eating; it’s about timing and mental strength.”
Spectators were also entertained with live music performances and comedy, while interactive games such as blind taste tests brought a communal, festive atmosphere to the event. The Silverbird Food Eating Competition reinforced its reputation as not only a battle of appetites but a celebration of culture and culinary passion.
