President Muhammadu Buhari has signed the 2019 Appropriation Bill into law.
He assented to the bill on Monday, a few weeks after the National Assembly passed the 2019 Budget.
This was done in the presence of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation, Danjuma Goje; the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Udoma Udo-Udoma; the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters, Ita Enang, among others.
The legislative arm had increased the budget from N8.92trn to N8.83trn, saying that the increase of N90 billion was to cater for security challenges in the country, packages for lawmakers and support for Zamfara State.
President Buhari presented the budget to the joint session of the National Assembly on December 18, 2018 but while signing to law on Monday, the President faulted the increase in the budget.
