The Ekimogun Association DMY, Maryland USA has dissociated itself from the online reports against Honourable Abiola Makinde, the House of representatives’ member representing Ondo East/West Federal Constituency in the 10th national assembly.
A report had alleged Makinde of abdicating his legislative duties for months during legislative session and relocated abroad with his National Assembly constituency office under lock and key, thereby rendering the entire constituency without representation for the period under review.
Tagged, “Alleged Legislative Misrepresentation: 30 Lawyers To Offer Free Legal Services Against Ondo Rep, Abiola Makinde”, a group called Ekimogun Roundtable gave its support to the allegation in a statement signed and released to the press on sunday through the acting secretary of the Roundtable Ms Christiana Ayodele.
However, in a swift reaction, the Ekimogun Association, Maryland USA has kicked against the support by the Ekimogun Roundtable, dissociating itself from the defamatory statement against Makinde.
In a statement jointly signed by Mr. Iluyomade Tony – President, Mr.Rotimi Akinkugbe Vice – President, Mr. Adewale Adetimehin- General Secretary, Mr. Tommy Akinbinu- PRO for DMV Ekinmogun Association, Maryland USA, the group described Ekimogun Rountable as impostors that are not known to Ekinmogun Association.
The statement reads in part, “Our attention has been drawn to the campaign of calumny, and defamatory statements, being peddled on the social media, by some mischievous and unscrupulous persons, against Hon. Abiola Makinde, MHR.”
It said, “These individuals or group of people by the name “Ekimogun Roundtable”, have been using the DMV Ekinmogun Association’s logo without our permission or endorsement, to issue such malicious statements online against Hon. Abiola Makinde. This is impersonation.”
Ekimogun Association explained that in the desperate bid to give credibility to the false report against Makinde, the criminal individuals had been issuing such statements with the name “Omotayo Akinkugbe”, as the president of the Association.
“We wish to clarify that such name “Omotayo Akinkugbe” does not exist in the Association, and, in consequence, not known to us. In other words, we don’t have anybody who bears such name in our Association. The name is fictitious, and it is obvious that it was deliberately coined by these disgruntled elements to give weight and credibility to their hate campaigns against this highly- revered individual.
By this notification, we are dissociating ourselves from these persons’ actions and statements. Please, note that they do not represent the Ekimogun Association DMV, Maryland, USA. or its values, neither do they have any affiliations with this noble Association. They are obviously acting this evil agenda alone. Their views have nothing to do with us, and we, therefore, urge all Ekimoguns, home and abroad, to disregard their malicious post against Hon. Makinde. We also urge them not to engage with these people.
We, the EKIMOGUN ASSOCIATION DMV ,MARYLAND, therefore, wish to use this medium to reiterate our unalloyed and unflinching support to the Honourable. We appreciate and stand by him for his unrelenting efforts at enhancing the development of Ondo Kingdom, and the wellbeing of its people.
