Memories of the #EndSARS protests of year 2020 are brought to the fore today in Nigeria as protesters gather in parts of the country to commemorate the campaign against police brutality and related concerns.
In Lagos, celebrities and activists have joined a car procession at the #EndSARSMemorial protest at Lekki tollgate in Lagos.
This is despite a ban on protests in Lagos and the heavy presence of armed police personnel at the tollgate.
The celebrities and other activities who turned up at the tollgate with their cars were seen waving Nigerian flags from inside the vehicles and honking the horns while singing solidarity songs.
In Abuja, the #EndSARS memorial protest is ongoing at the Unity Fountain, Abuja, protesters gathered with a big banner, with the inscription, ‘We never forget. 20.10.20. #EndSARS memorial.’
Similar protests are planned to take place in Aba, Port Harcourt, Yenagoa, Enugu, Yola, Ibadan, Benin City, Jos, Ilorin, Asaba and Osogbo, among others.
