President Muhammadu Buhari has assured the country’s youths, especially those involved in the #ENDSARS protests that he has accepted their demands and his government is already responding to them at various levels.
The President made the pledge at a meeting with Minister of Sports and Youths development, Sunday Dare, at State House Abuja on Monday.
This is the second time President Buhari would be responding indirectly to the protesters out on the streets in the past week. His message is simple- that he would ensure that the reforms as promised, would deliver a police force that all Nigerians would be proud of.
The President believes the protests are fundamental human rights of all Nigerians, as long as they are peaceful and focused.
But the Minister is worried that miscreants are hijacking the protests in some instances so as to give demonstrators a bad name.
Apart from these statements by the President, conversations with the Nigerian youths who are seen as drivers of the protests have been ongoing.
This includes a virtual town-hall meeting held last week with about 145 youths online.
