Naira Marley Suspends Planned #EndSars Protest

Nigerian singer, Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley has suspended his planned #EndSars protest in Lagos.

Yesterday he took to his Twitter page to make a public announcement that he would be taking to the street and demand the disbandment of the security outfit often accused of brutally assaulting innocent citizens. He tweeted:

So 9am tomorrow we move
2nd toll gate
Peaceful protest
No vandalism, no fights and no stealing.

Hours later, Sunday Dare, the minister of Youths and Sports, pleaded with him not to go ahead with the decision.

So, earlier this morning, Tuesday, October 6, Naira Marley shared on Twitter that he is cancelling the planned protest for a week to see the changes and if there’s no changes we will start a mass protest.

We won’t be protesting anymore because there’s a lot of changes being made right now. As a Marlian we will give them a week to see the changes and if there are no changes we will start a mass protest. #togetherwecan, he tweeted.

He later tweeted that “the protest was a cry for change” and that it is important the Nigerian youths “stick together to sort the issues on ground, #EndSARSBrutality“.
