Nigerian gospel singer and evangelist Ayodeji David, famously known as Kekere Jesu, alongside three fellow gospel ministers, in a fatal road accident on Saturday, April 5, 2025.
The gospel music world has been plunged into mourning following the shocking death of the singer and others. The heartbreaking incident occurred along the Ikorodu–Sagamu Road in Ogun State, in the Gbara area, around 4 p.m. According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the crash was caused by excessive speed and brake failure, resulting in a devastating collision that claimed all four lives on board.
The ministers were reportedly en route to a ministry assignment—one of countless they had undertaken in their unwavering commitment to spreading the gospel. What was meant to be another moment of service turned into a sorrowful departure, sending shockwaves through Nigeria’s Christian community.
Kekere Jesu, known for his spirited street preaching, infectious passion for Christ, and commanding digital presence, had become a beacon for youth-driven evangelism. With his heartfelt music and viral gospel messages, he brought inspiration, laughter, and hope to countless lives across Nigeria and beyond.
News of his death spread like wildfire, igniting an outpouring of grief and tributes across social media. The Federal Road Safety Corps has since reiterated its call for Nigerian drivers to maintain safe speed levels and ensure vehicle maintenance, stressing the preventable nature of such tragedies.
