Actress and singer Halle Bailey, best known for her role in The Little Mermaid, has been granted a temporary restraining order against her ex-boyfriend, rapper and YouTuber DDG (Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr.), following a series of troubling allegations spanning physical, emotional, verbal, and financial abuse.
The couple, who share a 17-month-old son named Halo, reportedly parted ways in October 2024. But according to court filings, the breakup did not end the alleged turmoil. Bailey detailed harrowing events in which DDG allegedly assaulted her during a January 2025 visitation handoff — pulling her hair and slamming her face into a steering wheel, an incident that left her with a chipped tooth.
Another alarming episode reportedly occurred in March, when DDG allegedly entered Bailey’s home without consent, took a photo from her bedroom, broke her Ring security camera, and threw away her phone during a confrontation.
The court’s restraining order now requires DDG to remain at least 100 yards away from both Bailey and their son. He is also barred from any contact or possession of firearms. In addition, Bailey is asking the court for full custody of Halo during a two-month work trip to Italy and is seeking a ban on DDG publicly discussing their relationship. She has also requested he complete a 52-week Batterer Intervention Program.
A hearing is scheduled for June 6, 2025, where a judge may decide whether to extend the order for up to five years.
In response, DDG has taken to social media and music to express his frustration, releasing a song titled “Don’t Take My Son” and stating his hope to resolve the custody dispute outside of court.
As this high-profile case unfolds, it has ignited widespread conversation around domestic abuse, celebrity co-parenting, and the often-unseen struggles behind fame.
