Ivorian singer, DJ Arafat has been reported dead after a road accident in Abidjan.
Arafat who was known for his love for speed was driving a motorbike when he had a collision with an oncoming car on Sunday, August 11, 2019.
Critically injured, he was rushed to a hospital in Abidjan for treatment where he later died.
DJ Arafat, or Arafat Muana, born January 26, 1986, as Ange Didier Huon. He is considered one of the most popular African artists in Francophone countries around the world. He has been referred to as the “king” of coupé-décalé dance music and one of his biggest hit songs, “Dosabado,” has over five million views on YouTube.
The singer is one of the first in his country Ivory Coast to obtain 1 million views in less than a day on his song “Moto Moto”, which was released in May.
Fellow artists have been sharing their condolences, including Nigerian star Davido and fellow Ivorian rapper Kaaris.

DJ Arafat came to symbolise the flashy well-dressed lifestyle associated with the music, which features fast percussion, deep bass and hip-hop-style vocals.
