Joe Jackson, Father Of Michael Jackson Dies At 89
Joe Jackson, the patriarch who launched the musical dynasty of the Jackson family has passed on following a battle with cancer.
Jackson was the father and at times manager to pop stars Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson, along with the sibling-singing group, The Jackson 5.
Joe suffered numerous health problems in recent years, including several strokes in 2013.
In 2015, he was hospitalized for a stroke and suffered three heart attacks, after which he had a pacemaker installed.
Last month, Joe who was admitted to the hospital with terminal cancer was said to be surrounded by family members.
Jackson was a former Golden Gloves boxer, semi-pro musician and steelworker when he began coaching his pre-teen sons in a family band, initially known as the Jackson Brothers and later as the Jackson 5, in the early ’60s.
