Public interest lawyer Maduabuchi Idam has accused reality TV giant, Big Brother Naija Season 10, of broadcasting what he describes as “obscene, indecent, and morally bankrupt” content.
In a petition filed to the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) in August 2025, Idam issued an ultimatum: clean up the show or face a lawsuit within 30 days.
From Reality TV to Real Trouble
According to Idam, BBNaija’s second-week broadcasts featured explicit sexual acts and pornographic behavior, easily accessible across TV and social media—even to minors. He argues the show violates provisions of the NBC Act of 1999, which prohibits the broadcast of material that corrupts public decency.
Despite its 18+ rating, Idam insists that viral snippets circulated online make it impossible to shield underage audiences from the show’s raunchier moments.
Double Standards?
The lawyer didn’t mince words when he called out the NBC for alleged hypocrisy—highlighting past instances where music videos were banned or censored for far less. He questioned why BBNaija continues to air unchallenged, despite its growing reputation for scandalous scenes.
“The show has zero educational or artistic value,” Idam stated. “It is simply soft porn served as entertainment.”
