Legendary Nigerian Raggae Artist Ras Kimono Has Passed
Legendary raggae musician Ras Kimono whose real name is Ukeleke Onwubuya has passed.
According to reports Ras Kimono was said to have taken ill on Saturday on his way to the United States. Friends rushed him to a hospital in Ikeja from where he was transferred to Lagoon Hospital in Ikoyi. He passed on Sunday morning at Lagoon Hospital in Ikoyi.
Kimono was an advocate of social change and was known for his patois styled music. He was one of the veterans from the 90’s who continued to remain relevant on the music scene, mentoring and contributing to the Nigerian entertainment industry.
He won several awards including the Nigeria Music Awards, Fame Music Awards and many more.
Ras Kimono was known for the hit singles “Under Pressure” and “We No Want”.
