Leonardo DiCaprio Donates $1M for Hurricane Harvey Relief
The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation has donated $1 million to the newly established United Way Harvey Recovery Fund which is meant to be used for both short and long-term relief.
Oscar winner Leonardo DiCaprio joins a long line of top names digging deep to help the thousands of evacuees in Texas and Louisiana created by the catastrophic storm.
Celebrity stars like the Kardashian family pledged $500,000 and also country singer Chris Young pledged $100,000.
Stars like Sandra Bullock, The Rock, Chris Brown, Miley Cyrus and others have made donations to the American Red Cross and other charities.
United Way Worldwide said that the national fund will distribute 100 per cent of donations to recovery efforts for those affected by Hurricane Harvey.
“We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of Leonardo DiCaprio and his foundation,” said United Way Worldwide President and CEO Brian Gallagher in a statement.
