Nigeria’s representative at the just concluded Miss Universe Pageant, Maristella Okpala shared her experience on being in the pageant.
Speaking in an interview with hosts of “Silverbird Today”, Bridget Chigbufue and Quincy Jonze on Silverbird Television, Okpala talked about her journey to Israel, dealing with Covid-19 travel restrictions, having to quarantine on arrival to Israel and down to the Pivotal Moment of the Pageant for her which is winning the “Best in National Costume” award.
Okpala speaking further on winning the best in national costume expressed her happiness which is not just about winning the award but also giving a big break to her costume designer Kennedy Gasper a student in Philippines, considering how passionate she is about education and students.
She also shared the inspiration behind her costume which is a famous traditional masquerade of the southeastern region of Nigeria called “Mmanwa” and rigorous processes that went into bringing the costume to life.
Okpala also talked about some of her ongoing projects and her next moves.
