The Lagos Magistrate’s Court in Sabo, Yaba, has officially cleared musician Abdulazeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, of any involvement in the tragic death of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as MohBad.
Others who were also cleared are: music promoter, Samson Balogun (Sam Larry), singer Owodunni Ibrahim (Primeboy), and MohBad’s former manager, Opere Babatunde.
This comes after months of speculation and public scrutiny. The verdict, delivered by Magistrate Ejiro Kubenje, was based on a review by the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP), which found no substantial evidence linking the accused individuals to MohBad’s passing. This ruling not only removes the legal shadow hanging over them but also puts an end to a controversial chapter that had fueled intense debates across social media and the Nigerian entertainment industry.
However, the case has now taken a different trajectory, with the focus shifting to an auxiliary nurse who allegedly administered a tetanus injection to MohBad shortly before his death. Investigations revealed that the nurse was unlicensed, raising serious medical and legal concerns. Based on the findings, the DPP has recommended her prosecution, making her the primary defendant in the unfolding case.
MohBad’s sudden demise at the age of 27 sent shock waves through the music industry, igniting widespread outcry and demands for justice. Now, with the exoneration of Naira Marley and others, the upcoming trial of the nurse is expected to shed more light on the circumstances surrounding his death.
As legal proceedings continue, all eyes remain on the courtroom, where the next phase of the case promises to provide long-awaited answers and, perhaps, closure for MohBad’s grieving fans and family.
