The rift between the late singer Mohbad and his former label boss, Naira Marley, refuses to fade, even in death.
Nearly two years after Mohbad’s shocking passing, his father, Joseph Aloba, has stepped forward to counter Marley’s latest claims of innocence.
A Clash of Narratives
In a recent viral video, Naira Marley attempted to clear his name, asserting that he never bullied Mohbad. Instead, he painted himself as a concerned mentor who only intervened when the young artist allegedly began dabbling in substances.
But Aloba isn’t buying it. In a new interview with Sunday Scoop, he stood firm: “My son was bullied, and I know what I heard and saw.” According to him, people close to Marley’s camp—including a trusted associate—confided that the Marlian Music boss physically assaulted Mohbad on multiple occasions.
Aloba recalled visiting Marley’s home in the thick of the tension, not to collect handouts as critics suggested, but to address his son’s complaints directly. What he saw there, he hinted, left him deeply unsettled: “People think I went there to collect money, but life is much more than what I want to eat.”
The Money Controversy
Marley, in his defense, had also raised suspicions about Mohbad diverting payments into accounts not directly tied to him. Surprisingly, Aloba backed this part of Marley’s story. He admitted seeing unfamiliar transactions himself and even advised his son to be cautious, insisting that any funds meant for him as a parent should only come from Mohbad’s personal accounts.
The Unsettled Truth
The contrasting stories highlight the messy fallout of Mohbad’s career and untimely death. While Marley insists he was a protector, Mohbad’s father is unyielding in his claim that his son was a victim of harassment and exploitation within the label.
And until full clarity emerges, one thing remains certain: the late singer’s legacy continues to stir heated debates, reopening wounds for fans and family who still cry out for justice.
