Mohbad’s Mother, Yomi Fabiyi In Serious Argument

What began as a solemn press conference to address lingering questions surrounding the tragic death of Nigerian singer Mohbad has spiraled into a dramatic clash between Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi and Abosede, the late singer’s mother.

Hosted under Fabiyi’s Break the Silence foundation, the event took an unexpected turn, shedding light on tensions between both parties.

Fabiyi shocked attendees with an allegation that Mohbad’s younger brother, Adura, had reached out to him, offering a three-second video purportedly showing a heated altercation between the late singer and his wife. According to Fabiyi, Adura requested a staggering ₦3 million in exchange for the clip, a claim that set the stage for a heated confrontation.

Visibly upset, Abosede fired back, accusing Fabiyi of defaming her surviving son and causing undue harm to her family. She clarified that Adura had sold his phone to a third party, a man named Damola, who allegedly impersonated him and contacted Fabiyi using his account. “My son has no hand in this,” she insisted, calling out Fabiyi for what she termed reckless accusations that could tarnish her family’s name.

In response, Fabiyi sought to defuse the tension, asserting that his intentions were purely driven by the quest for justice for Mohbad. He explained that he acted in good faith, believing the message to be legitimate given its origin from Adura’s account. “I have no reason to malign your family,” Fabiyi said, reassuring Abosede of his commitment to uncovering the truth behind Mohbad’s untimely demise.

Despite these assurances, the emotional exchange highlighted the sensitivities surrounding Mohbad’s death and the delicate balance between seeking justice and protecting the dignity of those left behind. While the press conference may have aimed to provide clarity, it instead brought to the forefront the human complexities intertwined with the tragedy.

As the quest for answers continues, one thing is clear: the road to justice for Mohbad remains fraught with tension, emotion, and a search for truth that resonates beyond his music.
