MultiChoice Launches ‘Heartbeat’, A New Dating Reality Show

MultiChoice Nigeria is turning up the romance with the launch of Heartbeat, a bold new dating reality series designed to put love, emotions and human connection under the spotlight.

Set to premiere on January 11, 2026, the show will air on Africa Magic Showcase (DStv Channel 151), promising viewers a front-row seat to passion, drama and deeply personal journeys.

At the centre of Heartbeat are 10 single contestants — five men and five women — brought together in a carefully curated “love pad”, where they will live together for 12 intense weeks. Cut off from the outside world, the housemates will navigate attraction, conflict, vulnerability and trust as relationships form, evolve and, in some cases, fall apart.

Each week, the contestants will be pushed through a series of games, shared tasks and emotional challenges designed to test their chemistry, compatibility and emotional strength. From playful bonding moments to difficult conversations, the show aims to capture the raw, unscripted reality of modern romance.

Speaking on the concept, Atinuke Babatunde, Executive Head of Content and Channels, West Africa at MultiChoice, described Heartbeat as more than just entertainment. She noted that the series is “an exploration of genuine human connection,” one that mirrors real-life emotional experiences and allows audiences to see themselves in the stories unfolding on screen.

The stakes rise toward the finale, where contestants must make a defining decision: whether to present their partner with a “Promise Lock” — a symbolic gesture of commitment that could shape the future of their relationship beyond the show.

With Heartbeat, MultiChoice continues to strengthen its investment in locally resonant reality programming, tapping into contemporary conversations around love, identity and relationships. The series adds a fresh pulse to Africa’s reality TV landscape, reinforcing the broadcaster’s reputation for storytelling that connects deeply with its audience.
