FG Postpones Second Batch Of Covid-19 Vaccination
Federal Government has postponed the administration of the second batch of the Covid-19 vaccine donated by the United States government.
Just last week, the federal government received four million and eighty doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine from the United States as it steps up efforts to battle a third wave of infections.
The Director Press, PSC, on COVID-19 Mr. Willie Bassey, made this known in a statement issued yesterday in Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that the exercise was earlier scheduled to commence tomorrow August 10, 2021 at the Federal Medical Centre, Jabi, Abuja.
According to Bassey, the exercise was postponed due to some unforeseen circumstances.
The statement reads in part; “This is to announce the postponement of the national flag-off of phase 11 vaccination programme earlier scheduled for Tuesday this week due to unforeseen circumstances.
“A new date will be communicated,” it said.
Following the increasing COVID-19 cases linked to the highly transmissible Delta variants, the government confirmed the third wave of the pandemic in the country.
As of August 7, the country had recorded 177,615 coronavirus cases and 2,185 fatalities, data from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) showed.
