Neymar Suffers Fractured Metatarsal, Set To Miss Second-Leg Real Madrid Tie
Paris St-Germain forward Neymar is set to miss the Champions League last-16 second-leg tie against Real Madrid after being diagnosed with a fractured metatarsal and a sprained ankle.
The Brazilian, 26, was injured while chasing Marseille forward Bouna Sarr and was seen crying as he was carried off near the end of the 3-0 win at the Parc de Princes.
Neymar joined PSG for a world record £200m fee from Barcelona last August and has scored 29 goals and provided 16 assists in 30 games.
He is set to miss the Champions League last 16 second-leg tie at home to Real Madrid on March 6 with PSG trailing 3-1.
Ligue 1 leaders PSG said on Monday that Neymar has suffered “a sprain of the right ankle and also a fracture of the fifth metatarsal” but did not indicate how long he would be out for.
PSG are 14 points clear of second-placed Monaco in the league and on 6 March will host Champions League holders Real Madrid, trailing 3-1 from the first leg.
