Nicki Minaj Cancels Album, Blames Jay-Z

In a jaw-dropping twist that’s sent shockwaves through the hip-hop world, Nicki Minaj has abruptly cancelled her highly anticipated sixth studio album — and she’s blaming none other than Jay-Z and Roc Nation for the fallout.

The “Super Bass” rapper broke the news on X (formerly Twitter), declaring she was done releasing music: “Ok I’m not going to put out the album anymore. No more music. Hope you’re happy now @sc. Bye, Barbz. Love you for life.”

The announcement, made on October 15, 2025, came just months after Minaj had teased a March 27, 2026 release date, making the sudden U-turn all the more dramatic.

Nicki didn’t hold back — she directly tagged Jay-Z’s handle (@sc) and accused his team at Roc Nation of sabotaging her project.

According to her posts, Roc Nation allegedly approached her for a joint album and tour, but Minaj says she flatly refused: “They came BEGGING the QUEEN for a tour & album & I said NOPE!!!!!”

She also reignited long-standing grievances about TIDAL, claiming she was shortchanged in the platform’s equity payout when it was sold — a deal originally spearheaded by Jay-Z.

In one fiery thread, Nicki took aim at Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez, and even mocked Jay-Z’s failed casino bid in Times Square, calling it a reflection of “karma catching up.”

The Barbz — Minaj’s fiercely loyal fanbase — were left reeling. Within hours, “#Nicki” and “Jay-Z” trended globally, with thousands pleading for her to reconsider.

While some fans fear she’s serious about quitting music, others believe this might be a power move — a bold stand against what she sees as gatekeeping in the industry.

Industry insiders, however, warn that such a public fallout could strain professional ties, especially with Roc Nation’s wide influence in music management and media.

As of press time, neither Jay-Z nor Roc Nation have publicly responded to the accusations.

Music journalists speculate that the silence may be strategic, as Roc Nation assesses how to navigate the controversy surrounding one of hip-hop’s most outspoken icons.

For now, the future of Nicki Minaj’s album — and her career — remains uncertain. But one thing is clear: in true Nicki fashion, she’s once again made the internet stop and pay attention.
